Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - MATTHS - 06-02-2021 Hi all, I am having a bit of trouble with launching a whole row of patterns. It appears that the Nerdseq waits until the end of the previous pattern before it launches a new one. This means that if I have a pattern on 2 different tracks with different pattern lengths, then any new patterns will not launch together when launching a new row via SHIFT+PLAY. Have I explained that clearly? Ideally I would like the Nerdseq to launch a whole new row of patterns so that they all start at the same time - ignoring the lengths of the previous patterns. For example, I go to a new row, hit SHIFT+PLAY and the Nerdseq will wait until the end of the bar and then play all of the new patterns in the new row together. Is there an option to do this? I should add that I have experimented with the SHIFT+PLAYx2 but this does not always trigger the new patterns at the next cue point but instead waits until the pattern ends. Thank you! RE: Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - mgd - 06-02-2021 Does playing with the length of "Live Quantize" solve your problem? RE: Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - MATTHS - 06-02-2021 As I understand it - Live Quantize should be in the Project settings but I cannot see that, instead I see Live Queuepoints listed. Is this the same thing? Perhaps its a terminology that needs updating? Maybe I am looking in the wrong place? Either way, this does not seem to 100% always ensure that new patterns start synchronised. RE: Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - mgd - 06-02-2021 I see, in the Project settings it says "Live Queuepoints". Setting that to 1 (or the maximum denominator of all your pattern lengths) should do what you want. If I recall it correctly there is a feature request that asks for a command "start new pattern/row NOW". See https://forum.xor.eu/showthread.php?tid=1024 RE: Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - MATTHS - 06-02-2021 (06-02-2021, 08:03 PM)mgd Wrote: I see, in the Project Settings it say "Live Queuepoints". Ive tried as you suggest and other divisions/mulitples of the pattern lengths and its hit and miss. I need to know that the next lot of patterns will always 100% start together when I choose a new row. Thanks anyway, hopefully there are some other suggestions? RE: Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - mgd - 06-02-2021 I'm not sure I understand what does not work. Is the problem that your divisions are very short and play very fast such that you miss the right point (due to imperfect timing when hitting the button), or is it that the NerdSEQ does not correctly switch? You are aware that you don't have to hit the button at the exact time of switching but instead just have to do it "some time" between the last division and the division at which it shall switch (no offence intended, just asking). No offence taken and I appreciate the help so far. I am aware you you don't have to hit the button at the exact time of switching - so I am pressing SHIFT+STARTx2 between the Queuepoints. Sometimes Nerdseq will launch the patterns in time with one another and sometimes one of the patterns is delayed in being launched. It seems random. I have checked to see if I have any FX preventing or impacting this and I can see anything which would be causing this. So to confirm, it is that the NerdSEQ does not correctly switch. I am on the latest firmware. RE: Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - mgd - 06-02-2021 I'm not sure that SHIFT+STARTx2 exists as a command, at least it does not seem to be documented. Feature request? Feature request? Pressing START 2 times, will trigger the next pattern faster, after an amount of steps, set up by the Project setting ‘Live Quantize’, derived from the main 64 step clock. (Page 18) So I am presuming that, if you hold down SHIFT and press START twice (x2) then this applies to the row of patterns and thus launching all patterns on a row synchonised. Perhaps holding down SHIFT and pressing START twice (x2) does not exist as a key command? Can the Admin confirm this? RE: Launch whole row - ignoring pattern length - Barney Rubble - 06-02-2021 I had similar issues a while back - no solution but this thread may help with understanding the Nerdseq approach https://forum.xor.eu/showthread.php?tid=426 |
