How to randomize notes from a scale? - jlamores - 12-29-2020 I am beginning learning the Nerdseq and I would like to know how in a step you can randomize a note, from a choosen scale or chord. Can this be done with the FX? or using tables? Thanks! RE: How to randomize notes from a scale? - mvdirty - 12-29-2020 Check out the Table Screen section of the manual, starting on page 58. In particular, pages 58 through 61. RE: How to randomize notes from a scale? - jlamores - 12-29-2020 Thanks. I suspected it had something to do with tables. I will have a look. I really don't know how tables work. RE: How to randomize notes from a scale? - jlamores - 12-30-2020 I was yesterday reading this section of the manual, an also a few videos. But it still is not clear for me how to do it. I see I can make an arpeggio of random notes (from the notes I choose to allow). But I only want 1 note to play, not an arpeggio. I want to make random long notes, 4 bars of duration that are random (from the notes I allow). Can you elaborate a little bit more, or point me to a solution? RE: How to randomize notes from a scale? - depaffect - 12-30-2020 in the table, go nerd menu -> randomise (something like that) set table to loop then clock the table with SPFX011 in your pattern (you”ll also need to configure your table’s clock source to receive its clock from the SPFX command) then when you call the table from the pattern it can just play a single note each time it recieves that SPFX command not in front of nerdseq presently so hopefully i’ve explained that well enough RE: How to randomize notes from a scale? - jlamores - 12-30-2020 (12-30-2020, 12:24 PM)depaffect Wrote: in the table, go nerd menu -> randomise (something like that) Thanks! When I go to the Nerd menu I get this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/56q48udl4z07rwd/1609333788963.jpg?dl=0 I think the rest of your instructions are ok. This is my pattern: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i6ofd4b508ugf53/1609333788985.jpg?dl=0 And this is my table: https://www.dropbox.com/s/figuznjtl8gpwgh/1609333788974.jpg?dl=0 What do I have to change? RE: How to randomize notes from a scale? - jlamores - 12-30-2020 I finally managed to get it working. I don't really know exactly what I am doing! :-) I put 2 RND in the tables, and setting the Range parameters I could get the up and down range for the table to look for random notes. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uxhjjm34l59ftrk/1609338931121.jpg?dl=0 Thanks both for the help! RE: How to randomize notes from a scale? - XORadmin - 12-30-2020 They are multiple ways do do that. In the table presets (SHIFT+NERD) you can browse to the presets, and Change these with SHIFT-LEFT/RIGHT. When you choosed the table preset you want, you press OK and it will be filled in the table sequence. There is also a random sequence as an option. Another go is the RND command. If you set a HOP to 00 on the 2nd row then only 1 row with a random vanue will be transposed. Indeed the range is important here, the speed as well (another note per step or other). And if the quantization is on ou can set either allowed notes or choose here one of the possible chord presets (change to a preset you want, as always shift left/right) and press OK, so the allowed notes change to this preset. They are more ways, but this is currently the best and most flexible one. In the future I will add some more random and scaling capabilities to the main patterns. The above would be my go-to approach, especially in that one could set up a little helper table or two or three (perhaps with different allowed notes, ranges, etc.) that just randomizes a single note, and then start the helper table where and when wanted.
