Launch Pad Poly Record - guitargodmiles - 02-17-2021

I would love to be able to play a chord on my Launchpad then have it voice rotate across several tracks for poly recording.  So far I have been recording 1 note on each of the tracks making chords which is rather slow.

If this is already possible please let me know so I can facepalm my ignorance then enjoy this feature.

Cheers

You can do this into a Midi or a CV16 track. There is currently no polphonic recording into multiple tracks.

I have a similar issue using the 2HP MIDI expander and CV16 expander.

I have Track 1 assigned to NSA1: More CV 16, with Record Voices set to 6. Destination 1-6 is set to Ext CV 1-6 respectively.
In the Input / Record Setup, MIDI Data Input is ON. MIDI Step Chnl is 1.

Playing a chord on a polyphonic keyboard, should the first note appear in column 1, second note in column 2, third note in column 3 simultaneously?

I've tried playing chords with the Arturia Keystep, but only one note appears in the column that the cursor is in (not multiple notes across each column). The problem may well be the Arturia Keystep, but I just wanted to check before I splash out on a proper polyphonic keyboard.

Midi step channel is the wrong setting. You need to use Midi Channel 1 -> Record Track 1

Midi Step Channel is to record onto the position the cursor is on. Keystep does the job well.

XOR I am a bit confused by your first answer. You say it is possible with the midi or cv16 expander but, then say it's not possible? Please clarify. Thanks

The CV16 Expander Tracks and Midi Tracks contain multiple notes per track and into these you can record and play polyphonically.
But it is not possible to spread one channel recording into multiple tracks. So if you record into a CV/Gate track then you can record only 1 note.

Thanks Thomas.  I was able to enter chords using the Keystep with Midi Channel 1 set to TRACK 1 RECORD and with RECORD mode enabled in the pattern screen.

Is it possible to record multiple notes simultaneously without RECORD mode being enabled?  I find entering notes in RECORD mode is a bit more difficult to get the notes where you want them on a specific line, athough slowing the clock speed right down helps a bit.  I guess I want the best of both worlds really, step recording line by line using CURSOR UP/DOWN as well as the ability to enter multiple notes simultaneously.

Thanks for the info. I have a Vermona Qmi II which has midi in and can then voice rotate to CV. Can I take the 4 CV and Gates into nerd seq for poly record? Or is it currently only possible to record on one track at a time?

That is not possible right now. I think that has been requested before and is on my 2do list. But no priority at the moment.

You only have 4 inputs, so that wouldn't work. You could record 2 channels with CV+Gate at the same time.
In general it is possible to record into all 8 tracks at the same time.
