Format description of NerdSEQ project file? - mgd - 04-21-2021 Hi! I'm not sure this actually qualifies as Feature request or if it is better placed under General questions... I'd like to see something like the headerfile er-102.h as published by Orthogonal Devices which contains the C structure definitions as well as symbolic constants for various values that are required to understand the binary snapshots as created by the ER-102 for the NerdSEQ. That would enable interested users with programming skills to do all sorts of interesting things with saved patterns and project files: - copy patterns from one project to another - import/export pattern data into/from other software like sequencer or note engraving software - create text representation of the binary project data for proofreading and error hunting - all sorts of (external) import functionality for various settings The intention is to enhance interoperability between the various tools I'm using. While the NerdSEQ is impressively smooth to use directly, some stuff is better/easier done on a PC. Currently all data transfer from one to the other works by reentering all data involved on both sides. And I also have to keep them in sync by hand which inevitably will lead to errors. Am I the only one that would like to do something like that? Kind regards, Michael RE: Format description of NerdSEQ project file? - mvdirty - 04-21-2021 (04-21-2021, 07:35 AM)mgd Wrote: Am I the only one that would like to do something like that? I can’t fairly say how soon or often I would use it, but you’re not alone. There are one-off “meta changes” I would appreciate being able to make across projects more easily and consistently. I’ll survive if it never happens, of course but it would be cool to have that option, even if there were zero compatibility guarantees across firmware versions, etc.

I would love to see this, specifically hoping that it would make offline editing easier one way or another. I actually have to stand up to use my main modular setup, so it would be nice to be able to edit elsewhere and then just transfer the SD. At the moment it's a PITA because I've got to pull the NerdSeq + Expanders from the rack and move them to a palette. It might also bear mentioning that the competition's hardware tracker supports loading .MOD files directly ![]() On a related note, I'd love if the upcoming NerdSeq Portable had a compatibility mode or some such with the Eurorack NerdSeq for the same reason. Reading over the specs for it, it seems like it's upgraded hardware (more memory/etc), but it'd be cool to be able to edit on it and just transfer the SD card over. Regards, Nick |
