How do I stop all playing patterns repeating (not abrupt) - JX3D - 09-09-2021
Pressing STOP on a pattern, lets it play to the end and then stops the pattern from repeating.
Is there a way to do the same for all patterns playing (like a whole row)?
SHIFT+STOP stops them immidiatly, and I only want to stop them from repeating like when using STOP on a single pattern.

perhaps shift+stop for stopping at the end and shift+double stop to stop immediately?
But if it's not mirrored with shift+start (and then double start) it doesn't make sense.

Changing existing shortcuts is always hard on those used to the (then) old shortcuts. IMO that should not happen unless there is very good reason.
If stopping the tracks one-by-one is not an option you could always create a row with empty pattern and SHIFT+START that row. Those empty pattern could also be used to reset all sorts of modulators (if so desired).
Or is that too cumbersome too?

Actually these empty patterns could just have the stop now command.
But here is the risk to start the stop by accident.

I personally don’t find that too cumbersome, especially as I already have a row much like this at the very top of my arrangements, where I initialize various things and can safely return to when I need. It’s easy enough to copy them down the arrangement, tweak them if needed, etc.
As far as I understand, row(s) of patterns, with some or all empty, is also a pretty classic tracker thing (complete with debates about which pattern number to standardize on as the empty pattern.)

Yeah for sure, but double tapping does fall in line with the current START/STOP implementation, whereas adding shift to the equation would just do the same thing but for all of them.
I'd like this addition, but if it messes with anything else then ofc there are workarounds (I was trying to find this very shortcut just yesterday!)

Sounds basically logic. 2 things to consider:
The YES/NO to stop the sequencer function.
Some people like to stop and start the sequencer in beat to create a break. This would add an additional button pressing (hence people are used to a start and a stop button which starts and stops the sequencer in like all other sequencers...but I prefer to be not able to stop if not intended).
Not sure if there is anything in the way else right now. I can't really focus too much right now as I am pushing overhours for superbooth.....

A row of ** instead of patterns seems to work too. But if working with many rows, it may not always be easy to scroll to that row before the patterns playing repeats.
Actually I would love if it was an option in Settings, so we could chose between how SHIFT+STOP works. Like normal, or like STOP for a row.
