Can I make really short MIDI notes? - Marizu - 02-08-2022
I'm using my Yamaha VL80m (physical modelling synth) with my Nerdseq.
I would like to be able to output really short, staccato, MIDI notes from my Nerd.
I can do this with the triggers but I can't find an option or an FX that does this for MIDI.
What determines the length of the MIDI notes?
Would you consider adding this type of functionality? Could it be an FX that sends a Note Off for Note 1, Note2, Note3 or Note4? The parameter could be the amount of time after the start of the step that the Note off is sent.
I'd need to be able to vary the length from note to note. On this particular sound module, shorter notes make big differences to the timbral qualities because they don't let the body go in to full resonation.
Apologies if it can already do this. I couldn't find reference to it in the manual, or the forums.

The Kill command in the FX does this and you can define it for each note (or all).

I've been doing exactly this, Killnote fx works perfect.
It's also really useful to create a "standard" pattern where each step has a kill fx and then if you want to create a new pattern just clone the "standard" one
