Trigger16: Faster trigger entry with [OK] button in DrumGrid - Airell - 07-05-2022

First of all, thanks for having me. I have a NerdSeq for a couple of days now, so I'm not very familiar with using the interface as button combos are not in my muscle memory... If it does, this below might not be very valid after a couple of weeks. Never the less, I just want to share some ideas.

The idea is to have [shift]-less and therefore faster data entry when 'toggling' values. Less 'stress' of [shift+Up/Dn/Le/Ri] and keep right hand only for navigating and left hand for editing.

- Trigger16/DrumGrid: Pressing [OK] to toggle trigger on/off.
- Trigger16/NerdSeq: In Pattern/Trigger columns, use [OK] to add triggers: Cycle: '--' -> '40 (auto fill trig value)' -> 'FE' -> '00'.

For instance creating a drum pattern: OK+Dn+Dn+Dn+OK+Dn+Dn+Dn+OK+Dn+Dn+Dn+OK can be done pretty fast.

I have seen that in firmware 1.26RC the [OK] button is already being used for previewing the sound, so this one might come to late, although I would prefer fast data-entry over previewing sound.

Cheers, Airell.

It would break the consistency of editing but sounds like a good idea. Not for now for sure and if ever then as an option.
You can actually do it like this with the launchpad.

By the way. If you enabled edit-steps to 4 for example then you can insert the last trigger (like 40) on every 4th step by repeating pressing SHIFT+Cursor UP. Also really fast. Or the euclidean input which can also insert a beat every 4th step easily.

I'm totally aware of it breaking the editing that I actually hesitated to bring it up... I was struggling with it and after 40 years of programming I'm so used to use the arrow keys only for navigation and my left hand for editing I thought, it must be nerdy and I'll give it a shot. ?

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I think I have set it to 1 at the moment. With SHIFT+UP is goes down one which was already great ?
Euclidean was my next thing to try out, which I use a lot on my 'DOT'.
