Mapping an offset for Live Recording CV - kaminiello - 11-01-2024 H i everybody, Maybe you could help me with that as i am new to the mapping world. I would love to generate an offset through the mapping function for live CV recording. As far as I understood CV Input is 0V - 10V and CV Outs (offset to the right) are 0V - 10V as well. So if i receive eg a sequence from a Sequencer with the same values Nerdseq would record same notes, same CV values and could pass through all accordingly. If sources are different (eg external Quantizers with different Volt Value bases) I would need to offset in order to sync to Nerdseq's range. I am using a Neo Trinity to give out quantized random voltage (which comes -5V - +5V) and would like to record those sequences into Nerdseq. Is there any chance to program a mapping rule that all the incoming voltages would be offset to Nerdseq's -V - 10V automatically ? I tried the Chat GPT "Mapping Maestro" nut somehow it doesn't get it right with the translation. Same issue i have if I link the Bard Quartet Quantizer which gives out -3V - +7V Could you help me with that ? Thanks a lot RE: Mapping an offset for Live Recording CV - XORadmin - 11-02-2024 (11-01-2024, 09:25 PM)kaminiello Wrote: H i everybody, Hey! Unfoutunately that is technically not possible because the hardware inputs got the range of 0-10V and so everything below 0 Volt will be 'cut'. Adding an offset wouldn't change that as everything below 0V stays 0. So the mapping won't help here as well. The only thing you could do is to limit the voltages you generate to be within 0-10V. This by using a precision adder module or maybe you can set it up differently in the gear itself. And interresting! I wasn't aware of mapping maestro at all. I tried to describe the question there but it didn't give me a usable solution or information. I've tried a few different options, and the best so far are: Joranalogue bias 2 - you get a dedicated +5v, -5v, x2, and /2 in two separate sections. It works perfectly. The best part is you can override the normalled +5v or -5v offsets with your own, so for example you can use one channel with +5v to bump your neo trinity to 0-10v for input into the nerdseq, and you could have the nerdseq output exactly +3v on an unused CV output using the mapping matrix, and feed that into the other bias 2 section's offset, and get 0-10v from the bard. Oh, and the module is only 2hp and $100cad (~70usd) |
