Sending multiple MIDI tracks to Nerdseq - drumbo75 - 12-11-2025
Hi, not sure which end I'm having a problem on and I'm not a MIDI expert, but here goes. I'm trying to use the nerdseq as a multichannel midi to cv converter for my Dirtywave M8 with the TRS expander. I have one track on the M8 sending a midi instrument to channel 1, and another with a midi instrument sending to channel 5. I tried to setup everything in the nerdseq so it would receive this data on two separate midi tracks. In MIDI setup I have DIN/TRS Chn1 going to track 1 input, and and DIN/TRS Chn5 going to track 5 input. 1 and 5 on nerdseq are both set up as MIDI tracks. But no matter what I do, track 1 works, sending the MIDI notes on as CV, but track 5 is silent. The red bar on track 5 lights up as if it's receiving data but it's not receiving any notes or gates or outputting them. Any tips on how I'm messing this up would be appreciated

Nevermind I figured it out. Didn't understand that the nerdseq tracks should be set up as Modular tracks, not MIDI, and then set to receive din/trs and output cv. The track that was working as a MIDI track? I don't know why that was but it doesn't matter.

See the Input routing for inputs into a track. And you set up the track to output to another destination (using the track assign).
So basically if you got a Midi track it will output into Midi (basically but also a lot more including CV).
I assume you had Midi Track 1 set to 'clone to modular' which will then also output onto the CV outputs. Maybe Track 5 havent been set up like this.
It doesn't have to be Track 5 of course but any other track.
And also you can do all this without using any track just with a simple mapping (doing the same thing as your setup):

MIDI TC 1 NOTE > CV NOTE CV 1
MIDI TC 1 GATE > TRIG GATE TR1
MIDI TC 5 NOTE > CV NOTE CV 5
MIDI TC 5 GATE > TRIG GATE TR5Then you can use all 8 tracks for something else.
