Probably a stupid question ....
Does the midi expander have any brains or is it a more simple expander for the nerdseq? Would it at all be possible to use something like the Intellijel 1u midi to get midi into the nerdseq?

It doesn't have any brains. But it has the needed isolation and level shifting. So my first guess would be that it doesn't work with the Intellijel one.

I use the 1u Umidi all the time to bring in MIDI timecodes from my Analog Rytm, or MIDI-to-CV messages from a keyboard I use. It interfaces really well with the Nerdseq, imo.
