Something I've been missing in the Nerdseq for a while now while using the M8 is how the M8 allows you click shift when on any cell, and clicking shift on another cell puts that value down.

For Nerdseq it'd make perfect sense to do this with simply pressing shift on a cell and that value would now be the 'last value' for when you enter values.
It makes editing very fast and fluid, and I feel myself constantly reaching for it!

Maybe something similar already exists, I couldn't find it in the manual, if so let me know.

It would be great, quicker, if you have the Video I/O with a USB keyboard to be able to type an effect name name in the pattern editor, rather than have to use the various scrolling options with the cursor buttons.
Likewise with most of the other UI. To be able to just be able to type numbers in, just like the various Amiga Tracker programs, would be a lot quicker from a productivity point of view.
I really appreciate the new feature "user harmonics from MIDI keyboard", it opens a whole new world to me.

Could you add a multi-octave quantization mode ?

So it would be possible to quantize to less notes in the lower register (like only the root in the lower octave, then add the fifth in the second octave, and more notes in the higher octaves).

Best regards,

Hi Thomas,
While trying to control the Expert Sleepers disting NT from the NerdSEQ, I ran into an interoperability issue.

Currently, the NerdSEQ appears to send the voice-specific form of the I²C Note On/Off protocol.

The Disting NT also supports the MIDI-like Note On/Off commands, which let the disting perform its own voice allocation (round-robin, voice stealing, etc.).
For instruments like the disting NT's Poly Multisample algorithm, it actually seems to not be able to trigger at all unless you send a custom note command (54,55,56)

Would it be possible to add an option, probably per I2C destination, to use the MIDI-style Note On/Off commands instead of the voice-specific ones?

Dear XORadmin,

I am trying to set up a way of externally jumping to next / previous sequencer row (with patterns on them).

Currently STRW only accept a hardcoded row number (RV00–RVFE). It would be very useful if it could accept a variable or row result as the destination row (perhaps a version of STRW under GLOB) – similar to how SLCT can select a track dynamically via VA..VP or RW00..RW45.

This would allow building a simple next/previous row navigator in mapping using a counter variable incremented/decremented by a button press, making live performance navigation much more flexible.

Thanks for considering!

Additionally, it would be very useful to have a mapping source that returns whether a sequencer row has patterns assigned.

A source like RHAS (Row Has Assigned Patterns) that returns a value 1-8 reflecting how many patterns the targeted sequencer row has assigned, and 0 if it is empty. This would allow conditional navigation – only jumping to a row if it actually has content, making it possible to skip empty rows automatically when navigating forward or backward through the sequencer.

otherwise something like 64 groove presets could become tight -

as of now i have 64 different groove settings that are musically relevant to the way nerdseq works,
as a teaser let me just give you the 16th note swings, i haven't seen this documented too much on here.

66 No Swing
75 58.3% Swing, very close to MPC 58% swing and Septuplet swing (4:3) great for house.
84 66.6% Triplet Swing, close to the MPC 67% Swing setting
93 75% Dotted Swing, (3:1 ratio) like MPC 75% swing.
A2 83,3% Swing. Extreme Swing close to quintuplet.
B1 91.6% Swing Maximum Swing, almost like a Flam

the same goes in reverse,
57 Pushed / Reverse Swing, very urgent
48 Reverse Triplet, Gallop
39 Reverse Dotted
2A Extreme Push
1B Reverse Flam

for 8th note swings there are between 16-24 relevant combinations plus their reversions
including the often looked for 8844 for triplets like on the old TR-606
8-digit codes for septuplets and 16 digit/32digit/64 digit/128 digit presets for risset rhythms, fibonacci and such.

so having these hopefully editable presets available will be populated very very quickly and thankfully

people don't recognize the nerdseq enough for the fact that it is possible to have each track running on a different groove timing. which is nearly impossible on most other trackers!
PLUS it's possible to use the swing parameter in the main menu on top of whats going on! that's so insane!

having said that it would be nice to try existing patterns with all of these without hammering them into each project file without importing 64 individual patterns every time.

OR: if a pattern file already stores the groove data, can the groove import function, only import the groove portion of the pattern? that would help too.

Dear Thomas

I have a heavy I2C / Midi driven setup with Sweet Sixteen (16n eurorack) + Gess expander (providing manual buttons - www.tesseractmodular.com/eurorack-modules/gess).

What I'm looking for is a way for Gess to be able to send SC.TR commands to ER-301, through the Nerdseq.

The traffic on my MIDI channels is often too heavy (as I have to convert a lot of I2C to midi), which causes dropouts.

My current workaround is to run a midi cable from Sweet Sixteen to Multi-IO TRS-A and 16x of these mappings:

10 MIDI TC 1 GATE > ---- ---- ---- ----
11 CALC PASS 10TH > I2C B TR # 17 (ER-301 is triggering SC.TR on port 17)
12 CALC PASS 10TH > I2C BCVS # 17 (Disting NT is receiving ON: 0x11 0x10 0x08 0x00 / OFF: 0x11 0x10 0x08 0x00)

(with a default threshold of 512/200)

I would love to have an I2C setting mode which included Gess, or at least 24 input ports on the same address so I could mod the firmware of Sweet Sixteen myself, as it is open source.

As far as I understand the manual, the only way to have more channels being received by the Nerdseq on I2C A, is to have more physical 16n's or use I2C B, which I'm using for I2C output

Let me know if I'm clear or if there is anything I can do to help.

Best,
My current workaround is to run a midi cable from Sweet Sixteen to Multi-IO TRS-A and 16x of these mappings:

Best,

I’ve seen some colored buttons for the NerdSeq here and there, would especially want a red and green one for stop and start respectively. Altough muscle memory is mostly there after around a week of use, I still get a brain fart every now and then, so would be nice with an additional que for which button does what.

Where are people getting the colored buttons from?

FYI I tried the link from another thread https://www.marquardt-shop.com/products/...tches.html

From another thread but it doesn’t get me anywhere

Will post further in the old thread: https://forum.xor.eu/showthread.php?tid=1026

Are those initial base/standard values in the various settings and menus (where user can change them w/shift+arrows) stored in the firmware? If yes, how about letting shift+delete restore that value? Or, if possible, where the initial base value is always '0' (like transpose, range and the like) it would make sense? Just a thought.
