  Offset switches
Posted by: Hein - 08-02-2017, 04:48 PM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (3)

Hi, I saw a picture of Patrick catani's nerdseq, with offset switches instead of potmeters. Is this a mod I can do myself?

  Full Midi-CV converter
Posted by: XORadmin - 08-01-2017, 08:41 PM - Forum: Feature requests - No Replies

Imported from old Forum:
Hi !

It would be great if the NerdSeq could be a full-featured midi-to-cv converter. Then it would truly become the heart of my modular system, and I wouldn't need anything else !

By full-featured I mean (from most to least important) :

1- the ability to use all CV outputs in combination with one gate in order to extensively animate a tone across several modules with many MIDI CC controls
2- the ability to split CV outputs between several MIDI channels (e.g. CH1 -> 1 gate, 4 cv ; CH2 -> 1 gate, 4cv ; ...)
3- polyphony on one channel (1 gate, 1 cv per note; or maybe 1 gate, 2cv per note)
4- polyphony split between several channels (perhaps one poly and one or more mono...)
5- any possible combination of 1, 2, 3 and 4
6- portamento time (or rate) controllable through MIDI CC
7- a selection of different portamento curves, in both constant time and constant rate
8- portamento time (or rate) controllable via CV
(I'm listing the portamento implentation as least important because slew generators are cheap)

That's some work, I know. Too bad I am so lame at low-level programming, because I sure would like to help make this happen Undecided

... some might also want :

9- tracker to midi output

but not me ;-)

  Trigger Probability Effect
Posted by: XORadmin - 08-01-2017, 08:39 PM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (2)

Imported from old Forum:
Something that I thought would be a really nice feature is for each line in the pattern editor, the ability to add a 'probability' effect -

Value 00: Nothing happens
Value 40: 50% Probability of note/trigger/mod
Value 80: 100% Probability of note/trigger/mod
This would be a nice way to build in some variation to a beat or sequence, sort of like Elektron's probability for trigs.

  Bugreport rules
Posted by: XORadmin - 08-01-2017, 08:38 PM - Forum: Nerdseq issue / bugreport - No Replies

Before reporting a specific bug, please make sure,

1 : You are on the latest version of firmware

2: No one else has reported it.

3 : You can reproduce the bug consistently by following the steps you outline in your report. (if possible)

4 : Another one of us can reproduce it from your instructions. (hopefully)

5 : Photos are great!  Worth a 1000 words and all that.

6 : For any hardware related issues, please contact XOR directly through the contact form on the XOR website or the provided email.

7 : It would be nice if you are available for further discussion, so a potential bug can be found fastly. I can't keep researching any half informations and don't get any response anymore, so i can get into detail.

8: Don't post any bugs or issues in unstable versions or release candidates here. Use the 'Firmware/Release Candidate XY' topics for it.

Please be 100% sure it is a bug and not just something you don't know about the NerdSEQ. If you are not sure about any behaviour, the 'General Questions' thread is the better option. If it turns out to be a bug, i will move topics myself to the bug-reports.

And of course, i try to fix bugs as soon as possible. But depending on the importance i might wait with the fix for the stable release.

Remember: I am here to help and want you to have a running sequencer!!

Thank you for understanding.

  NerdSEQ Firmware Update Information
Posted by: XORadmin - 08-01-2017, 08:26 PM - Forum: Firmware / Manual - No Replies

Firmware
This is a repeat of what's already in the manual, but for those of us who are too lazy to find it, or couldn't find the google docs invite buried in their email (like me), the process is as follows.

1 ) Download new firmware.  .HEX file.  (as of this posting, the file is not compressed) Depending on the browser you might need to download it using the 'right mouse button' or CMD button and choose ' save as' to save the file. Be sure it is named 'nerdseq.hex', some browsers want to add a '.txt' behind it, remove that if thats the case.

2 ) Copy the firmware .HEX file to the MicroSD card in the folder called "firmware".  so, SDCARDNAME:\firmware\nerdseq.hex  (you may need to overwrite an existing version here if it is already present on your card.)

3 ) If wanted, Power off your module either by unplugging it or turning off your case power supply

4 ) Insert the MicroSD card into the card slot on the NerdSeq with the writing on the card facing toward the display.

5 ) Hold the following three keys in a three finger salute.  SHIFT - COPY - CURSOR UP

6 ) Turn on power to the module while continuing to hold the three keys above ( Or when turned on: Go to the Setup screen, Enable Debug and use the Soft-Reset function below, then Press buttons from #5)

7 ) The bootloader menu will now appear and you may now release all held keys.  When prompted, press SHIFT again to confirm upload of new firmware (check if it detects the new wanted firmware to be flashed before).

8 ) Do not interrupt the process by either turning off the module or removing the MicroSD card.  A progress bar will be displayed showing how far along the flashing process is.

9 ) When complete (100%), the unit will prompt you to press the SHIFT key again to reboot into the newly installed firmware version.

Congratulations!

...Troubleshoot:
If the update was interruped for some reason. No Panic. Just try again and it will be fine.
Also in some cases it will show an error in the Firmware upgrade screen. Be sure that the SD card is inserted well, maybe eject and insert again and retry. Also in some cases it shows an error in the first place, keep holding the three keys until it tries again. If all is fine, it will work for sure on the 2nd try.
If it says 'No valid drive handle' or something like this then the firmware is most probably not put correctly on the SD Card. Check then if 'nerdseq.hex' is in the firmware folder.

  Nerdsynth still in development?
Posted by: XORadmin - 08-01-2017, 08:15 PM - Forum: Nerdsynth - Replies (1)

Hi guys - just wondering if the Nerdsynth is still being developed for production?

The last indication on the page itself says it should be available sometime during 2016...
