Fixed MIDI note lengths

I'm using the MIDI output to trigger drum samples. It works fairly well, but the legato-style note output is less than ideal for drums, especially since it causes the note-off messages to stack up with the note-on messages, which can affect the timing. It would also be better for me for the note events to be more like uniform trigger pulses to make the envelope triggering on connected sound modules more consistent.

I know that it's possible to manually insert note-offs, but that slows down editing considerably and uses up rows.

What I would prefer is a track-level option to specify the length of the notes -- either in ticks or in milliseconds. Is there any chance that this option could be added?

There is surely a chance for that.
You could for now also use the kill command which automatically sends a note off at a defined time. It is still twice the work with editing though.
