Delete audio samples - in sample load menu
#1
When loading samples into your project, I've often found myself stuck when the size of the samples used are too big and there's no more space left - i.e. you've used up all the sample buffer space. Sometimes, it is possible to 'overwrite' a sample you've already loaded (as an example you decide that #1 isn't the snare you want, and so you just select another snare in its place). However, on other occasions I notice that if you've used up all the memory you cannot overwrite a sample (as in above example slot #1).

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but as of yet, I've not come across a solution - in worst case scenarios, you're blocked with that project, and there's no way to delete or go back once the samples are selected. Would it not be possible to have a delete sample option, so one could make space and load a different sample?

And, whilst I think of it, why not have a delete function in the load project section? I know you can clean these up on your computer, but sometimes it could be useful to just clean up your 'load' screen directly, maybe?

Press the delete button in the 'Sample Slot Screen' will delete your sample. (sorry not mentioned in the manual currently)

The reason you sometimes can't replace a sample is called fragmentation combined with the small sample memory. Samples got to be in one piece in the memory en if you replace one for example first a gap is created and if the new sample is smaller this gap is beind filled, leaving a little space unused. If it is bigger then it will try to use other space which is big enough. This causes fragmentation as the non used spaces might be not big enough for the selected sample, even though is says that there should be enough space left.
What helps is to save the project and load it again as it will free all space and reloads the samples back to back.

I don't really see a reason for a delete files function or any more of that (like rename etcetc). It is a good practise to backup your SD Card often and so cleaning up what is not needed anymore. Also even though it is possible of course I try to focus on using the little time I have to add features which are interresting or needed for the sequencer part.
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.

Thanks, I'll try that.

As for the other delete idea, no problem, it was just a suggestion.
