Envelopes out of trigger outs
#1
I would love to be able to go straight from trigger out to VCA. Any work around ideas if not? Im 100% out of room in my box.

Too bad, the trigger/gate outputs are digital outputs and can’t generate voltages other than 0 and 5 volt

I use 2/3 of my CV16 outs for Envelopes and LFOs. It saves on quite some other modules.

I see, My plan will for sure not work then.

True, I will explore more options.  Though convenience of trigger is too easy to pass up I feel, for the set up at least.  Any ways I wonder if we could use the trigger section of regular track to trigger an envelope out of the cv16?  Might be cool,  I'll leave that in the wishlist pile I suppose.

Just generally, if you have any CV or MOD output left, then you can generate an envelope with that from every track (which you can use then again with a VCA).
For me at least I often got a MOD output unused in one of the tracks and this can be easily used then.

You could route the internal envelopes to the CV16 outputs, but you would have to route that then through the automators and use a CV16 CV output as destination. They are limitations with that. The automator resolution is less than the real envelope resolution. Also it generates a lot of data since every voltage change need to be send to the CV16. This could generate side-effects. But it might work also just fine for your project and needs.

I'm currently fine tuning the envelopes and overall VCA CVs of a project only to realize that the details of the envelopes and the VCA CVs very much depend on the exact VCAs involved. In my case I just switched from a few Doepfer A-132-4 to A-132-8 and now I'm redoing all CVs involved (I really want global change...or a way to convert project files into and from JSON/XML/some-human-readable-format to edit them outside the NerdSEQ Wink )

Changing and adjusting that really takes some time.

The project uses 2x CV16, has 10 melody lanes, 10 env lanes (CV16 internal env) and 10 CV lanes to control the overall volume (via FX) for each melody lane. I also use 4 MOD outputs of the NerdSEQ for CV and those are set and changed via FX as well. Not to mention I also use 10 LFOs as of the 2x CV16 for modulating the melody lanes internally.

I'm extremely impressed that such a setup is possible w/o using an external computer. To my knowledge the NerdSEQ is the only Sequencer in Eurorack that can do that.

While there still is some fine tuning to be done I'm really pleased with the results as in I'm not missing the physical ADSRs - I don't have them in the required number and they would have to be VC ADSRs anyway.

Kind regards,
Michael
