Stop wave sounds on tracks 7 and 8 on sequence stop
#1
When a sequence on an audio track that is set to use an oscillator wave (instead of a sample) is stopped or stop all sequences is initiated, the wave continues playing until you hit stop or stop all a second time. Can this be changed to stop the oscillator playing on sequence stop or end like the way samples stop playing?

Actually just as you say, these are oscillators and they usually keep running. You stop them normally with the use of VCA's or filters etc...
A change to let them stop is definitely nothing I would do. You might want envelopes to release then or something like this.
Also, they are being used not only for tracks playing. If you use for example an oscillator combination of multiple ones (like for FM sounds) and stop only one track, then you might want to stop the others as well..or keep them running because they belong to another sequence...

One option might be to make it a setting, but I got to think about that.

I don't think that Oscillators should stop. Envelopes and gates should. Oscillators should be silenced via a VCA.

I get that these are oscillators and having them stay running is desirable for most but for my use, I would really like the option to stop them on sequence stop. Maybe it could be an option that could be toggled on/off and set to free running by default?

I don’t want to sound overly defeatist, but the only oscillators which do that are voices, not oscillators. Oscillators always run, and we only perceive them as stopped if we close a filter and/or VCA after them. (Okay, okay, yes, there are oscillators which can be stopped e.g. grinding Generate 3 to a halt by messing with its through-zero input, but in general they always run. Big Grin )

Do you not have a filter and/or VCA downstream?

My setup is a 60 HP 4ms pod containing the Nerdseq, a noise engineering BIA(for kicks), a Braids clone(melodies, bass and textures), 4 track mixer and a diode filter. there are no VCAs in this case and I have planned it that way in order to maximize the usage of space. I use the Nerdseq for all melodic and drum sequencing, hi hats, snares, claps and basslines and melodies (via the built in oscillators). This set up is a super powerful and standalone tiny modular that has become the heart of my system.

I totally get that these are oscillators that would normally free run so that's why I mentioned making them stop as an option that could be toggled. Not the default setting. It's fine if no one else wants this option, I've worked around it by double tapping the stop button.

Perhaps a better feature would be adding a voice to the audio tracks that could use the various oscillators as building blocks along with FM settings, PWM, and a built in VCA. This is more or less a Braids/Plaits concept but more basic. I think this could be an absolute killer feature, especially if added to the standalone Nerdseq.
