How to use the Nerdseq inputs to trigger drum fills
#1
Similar to how the fill-CV works on Grids, I'd like to be able to send a high CV signal to the nerdseq and that would create a fill on kick or snare on my Trigger 16 tracks.

I was trying to see how I can do this but could only figure out switching to new patterns through the CV inputs. Can anyone guide me to the right direction here? Can I use the automator in some way together with probability?

Thanks in advance!

There is no dedicated function for that.
But maybe use 2 automators, one generates the square needed for the fill. The AMP source is then the other automator slot which is using a CV input.
Change the settings so it does have a amp of 0 at 0 volt input and a like 5 volt on another input level.
Not tested myself but you might get the wanted results.

Thanks for the quick answer. I'll check if that works and let you know!!

I've created two Automators as follows (see image below)

SLOT 0 → LFO → With the AMP set to SLOT 1.
SLOT 1 → CV I/O → with Source Input 1, which is receiving a 0-5v signal from a Joystick module.

I can see the input on the CV I/O automator (slot 1) and it is also moving the Slot 0 indicator. So that part is working.

However what should I set the LFO to in order to create the desired triggers? Right now I'm getting some results setting the track 1 to 08 → Triggers Galore. What do you mean more specifically with "generates the square needed for the fill". I'm assuming you mean create a square wave in Slot 0's LFO that does something to mu drum track. But not sure how to connect the high value square wave to create more triggers on the drum track.

I'm now using the Triggers Galore - which will trigger all the triggers from 1-16 really quickly - which sort of works, but not entirely the desired effect - would like to fill kicks and snares mostly not everything.

Let me check myself how to get the desired results. Trigger galore is surely not the correct way.
I will get back with some info.

Thanks very much! I realize the Triggers Galore isn't the way, but was at least triggering something in track 1.

Just to clarify what I mean with a fill: in stead of the normal pattern, e.g. Kick's that trigger on step 1, 5, 9 etc, snares on the 3, 7, 11 → classic "four to the floor". When I send a high value signal (5v) to the input, then I would like to have each step trigger for specific trigger output, in this example T1,T2 and for the Snare T3 and T5.

Any help is greatly appreciated. My other option is to use a few AND-gates, combining the clock signal, the high value fill signal together with the triggers from the NerdSeq just before going into the drum voice triggers. But that would require a few extra modules and I feel like the NerdSeq is so powerful there must be a way to do this.

Looking forward to your response. No rush btw!

OK, I checked this and I got to admit that I made a mistake. I thought you could use any of the 16 triggers as destination but you can't. And that is necessary for it to work as I expected.
Else it would indeed also route the clock signal to a input and the gate to another input and use only the CV input automators to pass though or not the triggers.

I will add it to the 2do list to be able to control also all 16 trigger outputs from the automators.
