Setting: Audio tracks automatically inserting retrig
#1
After a small discussion in another thread, I guess I gaslighted myself into thinking this was how it used to work:

Similar to how on a modular track, you can select a default trigger when you insert a note, I'd love for there to be a toggle where a retrig is inserted on an audio track, when a new note is being inserted.

It would give parity to composing between modular and audio tracks, as right now it seems a little tedious to (when using the internal voices and internal envelopes for "VCA"): insert note, delete auto-inserted sample slot and volume adjustment, go to FX and add retrigger.

On the modular track, you can very quickly bang out your melody, but on the audio tracks there are a couple more steps, taking you out of a "composition" mindset.

I actually thought the audio tracks re-triggered on a new note as well.
They trigger via the volume change? So I guess you could speed it up by taking the volume all the way down on the previous step?

I might be wrong.

The manual literally mentions it triggering on new note when walking through the setup of an FM voice and I was sure I had it working a while ago.

I'm not sure about volume change, but yeah, that would already be easier since it would lessen the horizontal cursor movement quite a bit.

I'll try it after work tonight!

Hm, it seems that if you specify the wave/sample in the second column as the note changes, it retriggers the envelope.

If it plays a sample it will restart the sample on a new note if the wave is filled in, else it is a note change. If you use also an envelope on it then it will not retrigger the envelope except for if RTRG 000 is filled in or if the sample was finished.
They are 2 things, Note ON/OFF and Gate ON/OFF. With a Note on the gate is automatically set. When the sample is finished or a note off in the sequence then the Note and the gate will be reset. If you do a note off, then the sample will directly stop playing + envelope release. If you insert a gate off, then the sample keeps playing and only the envelope will release.

For the waveforms (and so FM) you want the waveforms always keep playing and never stop. There you don't use a note off but rather a gate off. You usually work then with the envelopes and using gate off will keep the waveforms playing but let the envelope release. Here a note change will not retrigger the envelope, so you got to insert the RTRG 000 to retrigger the gate. I will take a look if a setting to auto insert the retrig would work fine (or is in the way as FX would be overwritten then as well)....same for delete.
