I2C & Disting NT
#1
Disting NT just arrived in my rack, and it is a great module. Amazing pairing with NerdSeq!

I want to control it with I2C, as the implementation seems incredibly broad.

So far, however, I am not sure how to do it best.

I thought A/B-CUSTM might be the best bet, but there is only 9 (?) ports to choose from.

On the Disting NT, there is 256 ports to be received data inputs on.

The solution I have found to work so far, is to use A/B-EX.PARA, however there is an offset of 2 between the ports (ie. port #14 on NerdSeq corresponds to Port #12 on Disting NT), and also A/B-EX.PARA only seems to go up to 128.

Perhaps I did not find the best I2C destination on the NerdSeq. Perhaps you have planned to include Disting NT in the destination sets in the future. Perhaps a custom destination with a wider range of ports could work?

Anyways. Thanks for your great work with implementing I2C on the NerdSeq!

Kind regards,

Simon

With the algorithms in the Disting, are there any ones that use more than 128 different ports?
I just looked up the main I2C implementation so far and it seems like the NT is quite similar to the EX and I expect it to be compatible.
I think there is a kind mapping in the disting where you route one incoming port to a destination in an algorithm and so you can access all parameters I think. (In the NerdSEQ manual:
A/B-EX.CO→ EX.CONTROLLER Set the I2C Controller to a value. The controllers (port) can be mapped in the disting to any algorithm parameter.) which I expect to be similar in the NT.
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.
Every (unnessesary) forum support means less time to develop! But of course, i am here to help!  Smile
