Recording onto subsequent patterns
#1
Hi!

Not sure if it's mentioned either here or in the manual (I couldn't find it): it may be cool to be able to record onto subsequent patterns, thus automatically creating new ones in an island while recording instead of limiting the recording to the current looping pattern. As one can break free of the 64 steps limit while playing using islands, this feature would allow for the same liberty while recording. Not sure if it's technically possible, though.

You can already create new patterns also while recording. The recording is not limited to 64 steps.

Yes, I know I can, but this means that while I'm playing the stuff I'm recording I would have to go to the sequencer view, create a new pattern and starting it, thus losing the flow. Or imagine recording 4 sequences at the same time using the 4 inputs, the above workflow would be quite cumbersome, especially if I don't want or can't stop the stuff I'm recording.
As far as I can tell at the moment there is no way around it for continuously record a long piece. Or is there?
What I was thinking is having the sequencer automatically creating the new patterns to accomodate the recording while I'm playing externally.

I understand, but still, you can create already a few patterns and record into them and so generate long flows. Just remove the unused patterns afterwards.
I don't know if auto-creating would be a benefit to the current possibilities.

Got it. The solution is simply to create a long island before recording; while playing, the recording continue flawlessly from a pattern to the next.
Brilliant, thanks!
