Alternatively, to speed up the workflow, in a MIDI track, would it be possible that it retains the last entered note, per "voice" ?

This would be very helpful for going to an external drum machine with midi input!

Sounds good but how would you enter the velocity?

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but holding shift up/down on the entered step, and some sort of value on the right side showing the current vel level?

Which midi commands do drum machines receive usually? Do they only receive Note-on or do they also need note off??
Maybe someone can give some information about that.
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.
Every (unnessesary) forum support means less time to develop! But of course, i am here to help!
i dont think drum machines need noteoff.
then it gets more complicated: i know of 3 different ways they work: 1channel per drum with regular pitch on noteon, few drums per channel and then all on one channel via note numbers. a config somehow like the one for npr# would be useful.. with a possibility to select channel and note number in the config.

The Nord Drum 2 does not need Note Off either.
However, it has 2 modes - one where all 6 channels respond to Midi channel 10, and another mode where each output has it's own individual midi channel (which enables pitch to work for the drum sounds). I'd love for the Nerdseq to be able to be configured so that each 'midi lane' on the pattern screen could have its own midi channel
its easy enough to make a single channel drum machine working with what is available now.
we'd need to address more than one channel in a nerdseq track. that would rise other questions too.. which channel to send other channel message to. edit: needs a FX command to set the channel for the track? (do drum matrix tracks have fx commands?)

I could see FX commands being used for things like probability/ratcheting/retrigger and maybe velocity (if applicable) per voice. Maybe if you could assign how many columns you need for the matrix (make it variable 1-whatever), you could have a second screen for the fx per step if you push to the right like the two-screen functionality of Track 7-8. |
