Zadar?
#1
Question for the room... I was thinking today that I have been somewhat unimpressed with the "audio" channel side on my Nerdseq. What is the collective opinion on moving those channels to be more focused on using them as a variation on the Zadar wave table LFO/EG theme? And less in the audio direction. Not having thought the matter through as far as implementation really. Just.. are envelopes more useful than sample playback. Nerdseq is like a living organism, so I'm curious who thinks a little genetic manipulation would be a good thing?  Undecided

At least currently I'm sitting in that boat Smile

I have yet to find a use case for the audio tracks. I've got playing with FM on my TODO list. When I'd wish to do sampling I'm more likely to use my VPME Quad Drum Voice or my disting EX. Or get a proper sampler ... but that kind of feels like "not modular" to me Wink

So converting the Audio tracks into something like Zadar seems a good idea to me.

There is much more than sample playback on the audio outputs ;-)

And implementationwise just 2 things:
1: No memory to store many wavetables
2: Audio outputs are AC coupled. So envelopes wouldn't work anyway. And LFO's must be fast enough and then they are oscillators (which it can do already).

If you can't really find a use for the sample playback, oscillators, noise generator, fm synthesis etc, then you can always use the 2 outputs as triggers like some people do.
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.

Intriguing! I must admit that I hadn’t thought to, given the AC coupling, and so have ended up with less use of those tracks than would be preferred.

What’s the best/safest tactic here? Perhaps to play an odd little sample that is nothing but DC and it works out well in the end because it is short enough and simple enough to not end up hit by coupling effects?

I use my audio outs every day. I actually have a second Nerdseq because I use the FM synthesis and sample playback so much.  Want a Zadar? Buy one...

Well, so much for that idea.

I have a Zadar. I was proposing adding functionality I might use more, and reducing some that I don't. Apparently I'm not the only one thinking that way. Regardless, it's not possible... so next topic I guess.

Totally understand. But that one is not possible.
I still have the hope that the audio outputs and you are getting friends one day Big Grin

YES!  become friends!  The audio outs are awesome! so unbelievably useful!
