Triplets - yes, again!
#1
Anyone got any suggestions (tips or tricks) on how to make triplets?

I know that you can use a table but I just can't get that to work (maybe someone can give me a detailed explanation?), and it seems overly complicated - meaning it's a lot of work just to write a triplet.

Thanks in advance.

Suggestion: Manual

Either via Tables as you say and you can easily use the presets.

Or much easier use the triplets in the trigger column.

E2 Duplets
E3 Triplets
E4 Quadruplets
etc.....
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.

Okay, I saw that (in the manual page 24), but I don't see how I place the notes in the pattern column?

Isn’t it easier to change the groove column from 6 to 2 (or 4 or 8)?

Do you want to have triplet triggers or like 3 different notes within one step?

Triplet triggers are done using E3 in the trigger column. And notes with the use of tables either with transpose or fixed notes.

Ok, to be precise I'm looking to do this:

I hope that's clearer?

BTW, it could all be in 1/4 notes too, but the rhythmical principal is the same, naturally ;-)

I’d do this, if you assume 1 line in the seq is 1/8th.
Line - Note - Groove
1 - rest - 6
2 - F - 6
3 - Ab - 4
4 - Db - 4
5 - Gb - 4
6 - C - 6
7 - A - 6
8 - rest - 6
9 - rest - 6

So instead of 8, you have 9 lines in the bar, but at least you get to see the notes in one view instead of mixed up in a table. If you really want, you could join the last 2 lines into one with double the groove.

Big thanks, I'm going to try this out. I did mess with the 'groove' settings a little, but somehow understood that it wasn't the best way to go. However, from what you and others have said it might be the simplest. And as you also say, you get to see the notes in front of you (and not hidden in a table - which I find clearer and easier to control IMHO).

If you chose from within the table then these 2 options are there:
One would mean no explicit triggers for each triplet note (but the notes readable the in the table):

And the other one would have each triplet note also triggered, but it uses relative notes to the note in the pattern screen:

Brilliant, and very detailed. I'm going to check out all those suggestions and see which one(s) are the easiest to use.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.
