So I finally got around to getting my modular set back up and decided I should dive in to the nerdseq. I have the trs a midi expander and wanted to see what was what with the Roland aria tb-3. I can’t seem to make heads or tails of how to make a slide happen. The Roland manual has the slide function set to cc 102. So far I’ve had no luck using this cc. I remember looking into this a long while back and finally got it to work by using two midi lanes and having a note overlap. I did that with the polyend tracker somehow but unfortunately can’t access that anymore because it died. So here I am trying to figure out slide on this. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Also would appreciate any nerdseq tutorials that focus just on mid would be great. It’s been almost two years since I’ve done anything with music and I feel like I’ve forgotten more than I retained over the years.
Thank you!
I assume the CC for the slide function just changes the intensity. I can't really figure that out from their manual, so it is something to test. But leave it as it is first.
And for the slide itself I assume it works with overlapping notes (But also here the TB-3 must be in the correct mode for it. I saw something about Omni mode etc... also leave it for now)
Overlapping notes indeed needs 2 columns. While one note plays and before it's note off another note is being played and that should initiate the slide option, sliding from one to the other note. It wouldn't work from one lane as here a note off is always automatically inserted on note changes (and for a good reason as you would get a mess of hanging notes else).
Try like below which should slide from C-4 to E-4.
Unfortunately no luck with that. Hopefully someone on here has the tb-3 and can chime in. I’ve read their “manual” and found nothing helpful.
