I'm stuck on what is probably the last step in getting my drum matrix/MIDI setup working. I use the NerdSeq to trigger both a drum machine module (Flame Fire) and a sampler (1010 BitBox MK2).
My general problem is when trying to use the built in MIDI "trigger" options:
For the Flame Fire:
MIDI_GATx works, but with the known limitation that when multiple steps in a row have a trigger only the first will fire.
MIDI_TRGx doesn't trigger the module at all
For the BitBox:
MIDI_GATx works, but with the known limitation that when multiple steps in a row have a trigger only the first will fire.
MIDI_TRGx triggers the module, but not quite right (the progress bars for sample playback don't reset)
I've got around this for the Flame Fire using the mapping matrix: The module supports a MIDI note on/note off command for any note value on a single, discrete MIDI channel. So the first 8 columns of the drum matrix XMAP to the mapping matrix, where I have:
GLOB PULS ---- > MIDI TC 1 NOTE
GLOB PULS ---- > MIDI TC 2 NOTE
...
GLOB PULS ---- > MIDI TC 8 NOTE
This triggers all 8 voices perfectly.
Unfortunately the BitBox doesn't support this. However if I set the BitBox to read MIDI on Channel 10, and do this:
GLOB SQRW ---- > MIDI TC10 NOTE
Then I can see the BitBox cycle trough triggering all 16 sample pads correctly as the value from SQRW cycles.
So my question is: Is there a way in the mapping matrix to define what the NOTE value on a single TRS MIDI channel should be? Then I could do something like
CTRL XMAP 2RW > ---- ---- ----
SET A MIDI NOTE ON CHANNEL 10
GLOB PULS ---- > MIDI TC10 NOTE
16 times, once for each pad.
Is that even a thing? Could I use NTON and NTOF one after another? The manual says these MIDI commands use note numbers 0 to 127 but I can't figure out where to set the note value.
