Setup strategies

I have Nerdseq and CV16 setup with a Piston Honda MK 3, Plaits, and Rings, and a couple filters. What I’d like to do control as many parameters as I can from a single pattern. 

Currently I’m setup like this:

1. V-Oct VCO 1, _, VCA 1
2. VCF 1, _, Wave shape 1
3. V-Oct VCO 2, _, VCA 2
4. VCF 2, _, Wave shape 2

I need the first 4 channels to control the voices. The triggers here are used for anything, except triggering the Nerdseq internal envelope. I’d like to get some more use out of these. 

My plan is to use channels 5 and 6 to control Plaits and Rings.

My question is, is that efficient? Am I getting the most out of this? I’d like to be setup to program some songs without having to re-patch anything.

Define efficient!

It really is not possible to answer that question for anyone but yourself.

However if you want more (or lots) of CV to control and modulate stuff then possibly adding a CV16 NSA (I think the official name is "More CV 16") to your setup is the way to go. Depending on how you use it that will allow for 16 independent CV outs controlled from one or at most two tracks (by means of 6 lanes and 3 FX as well as the 8 LFOs - of course you can use more tracks if you wish to).

If you are heavily into Triggers than the Trigger 16 expander might be interesting as well.

Yeah I think he got the CV16 already.

I would concentrate to have 1 instrument per track and that is easily possible using the CV16.
So to combine 1+2 (VCO1,VCA1,VCF1,waveshape1) to one CV16 track. You still would have 2 columns left which you could use for more modulations. And if that is not enough then involve more outputs using the patches or the FX. Pimp it up using modulations for the vcf or waveshape. 
The Trigger or gate for the VCA can also be generated in multiple ways. From triggers or gates from the local outputs  to triggers/gates or envelopes from the CV16 outputs.
