VEX scaling
#2
I assume you are talking about an external envelope?

In general any signal from min to max (like cv input 0-10 volt or internal values 0-4095 / 0-FFF and so on) are scaled to -1 / +1 in modulators for the shaders. So 0 volt would be -1 and 10 volt would be +1.
In case you want to add offsets you either do that in the shadercode or you go through the mapping route.

In that case you would have a CV input as a source, add (or subtract) an offset with the CALC command and have one of the shader modulations as the destination. Not
cumbersome at all but very flexible :-)

Keep in mind if you use external envelopes that the output is 0-10 volt and not
Bipolar as the CV inputs can’t handle this. Also keep in mind that there is a small delay when using external signals and that ADSR envelopes are mostly not the best for visuals compared to A(H)R envelopes. The best is actually to use the internal envelopes of the VEX since they are the fastest and got a higher internal resolution.
