*IMPROVED* Long filename samples won't load

i'd be happy with folders and longer names, just forget the rest of my display of stupidity
i may find out some day if its characters or size that broke the list and tell you then. anyway, both is easy to avoid.

browsing a long list of samples seems to have an impact on timing btw.
