Don't know if this will help but I plan on mounting the midi interface on the back or side of my case. Yes it means cutting a hole in it and some strips or something to mount it on, but I think it's a good place to have these kinds of physical connections away from the front panel. It will save the HP and it snot needed on the panel as no patch cables plug in to it.
