No, i don’t mean double speed the main clock.
Set the track scale to *2 and double the groove amount (copy+paste is your friend)

...go to sequencer page, highlight a pattern in a track, hit shift+nerd to go to the nerd menu, now change the 'TRACK CLOCK' setting from NORMAL to some multiplier, then edit the groove column?
This is much better.  I'd still ideally like finer granularity (like the WXYZ idea), but this is definitely usable.
