I’ll take a crack at it. 
Ohmrun, I think that XORadmin was only pointing out that you need both a CV and a gate, not just a CV, for that function, simply so that the NerdSEQ knows when to grab the CV value and apply it at the cursor location, otherwise it’d be constantly spraying CV values all over the screen as you cursor around.
This doesn’t have to be a keyboard, though. it could just as easily be a momentary or latched button/switch that can generate a gate.
The above all said, I don’t think I’ve seen anything on this thread get into detail regarding exactly where that operation can be performed, in terms of the “any value of any column ... where the cursor is” of your message. Though you’re making me curious about trying a few things out, as I had personally only given that a basic function test where pitch was expected.
