Yes, we would just have to position the cursor on the step on which we want to enter a value, press "shift" and manipulate the potentiometer of the offset generator until the desired value is obtained. Exactly as you can do with the arrows, but with the ease of a potentiometer. in fact, "shift" would enable the ability to edit the value with the offset.

I understand. But that would completely remove the normal editing which relies on SHIFT and that is not an option.
I also can't think of any other key combination right now which could be used.
