MIDI step sequence - option to disable triggers

Would it be possible to have an option for MIDI step sequencing where you can choose to disable the trigger column being filled out? 

I tend to not use the trigger column when tracking melodies (i prefer to use GATE OFFs when needed), so the triggers are annoying for me!
