New FX to mimic some of Bloom's features

That's precisely what I'm aiming for (not limited to background ambience, but...).

The best I've been able to achieve so far by using off-the-shelves modules (as opposed to write my own algorithms by means of O_c or Bela Pepper) has been a combination of O_c algorithms "Harrington 1200" and "Automatonnetz" and the 2 x Doepfer A-149-1 and A-149-2 combo for somewhat musical variation. At least for background my ears still liked it after 2 hours of playing

Those Doepfer modules look very interesting. I have only barely even used my O_C so far. Are those in the "stock" firmware?
