Yea I suppose I have a different workflow than others, my cloned patterns are directly below like 90% of the time though.
"SHIFT+DOWN+OK" would be a lot faster than "CURSOR DOWN, SHIFT+RIGHT, SHIFT+LEFT, SHIFT+OK" for sure.
Sometimes I like to take a drum pattern for instance, and clone it 3 times immediately so that I have 4 separate copies - basically creating a larger 256 step pattern.
Its a way to prepare for a technique I like to use to introduce subtle variations on a repeating pattern (typically at the end of every 4th bar).
In this instance, with the shortcut it would simply be to hold SHIFT+DOWN on the pattern, and press OK 3 times. Boom.
Now there would be the larger 256 step pattern, and I could go in at anytime later and create variations.
Of course if I want to clone something anywhere else at at all, the current behavior still makes most sense, which is why it would be very nice to have both options available.
