Oh! This just makes me sick to look at, because I'm asking myself, "why don't we have this already!!" It's SO MUCH easier to read and nicer to look at! I just assumed we were stuck with the hideous old school font because of screen or programming limitations. I think it could even increase your sales; I know I held out quite awhile on buying the NerdSeq partially because I just couldn't get past the "ugh!" look. I mean, nostalgia is fine for some things, but not when it affects usability. And I don't mean to dis people who like the way it is now, but please, please make this change!

And while you're at it Thomas, maybe you could increase the number of characters for file names, from 8 to whatever the memory can reasonably bear. Even 10-12 would make it a lot easier to come up with meaningful names that you're not scratching your head over when you look at them 2 weeks later. Please!

Yes, Comic Sans was more a fun choice. As you can see it looks mostly ugly and isn’t a monospace font which makes it unproportional on many points.
I will add more fonts, i only got to sort out some proper ones that fit well. It’s not the memory size, it’s as always just the time (and priority) needed to search for some good ones.
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.

No, I don’t mean Comic Sans; that’s almost as bad. The ones in the pics above are great! Is it called anonymous-pro?

And the filename lengths; is that doable? Should I make a separate thread to ask for that?

Edit: maybe you thought I meant that the fonts in the pic made me sick! NO! I mean I’m sick that I have to go back to what we have now, knowing that you have a version like the pics!

Sorry if I seem a little too worked up about this; it’s just that it would make such a positive difference.

This is comic sans!

Still, it doesn’t fit well so it can’t be used without resizing it to be more ugly again.

More letters should be possible. You better add it to requests...But then it doesn’t fit on all of the screens anymore without being cut. Thats why i choosed for the specific length.

Offline now and continue my vacation...

Oh crap! Sorry. I'm visualizing the kinda fat squiggly Comic Sans, but I guess it can also be thin and elegant like this version.

Anyway, thanks for considering some nice looking monospace options. I look forward to being able to tell the difference between 8 & B, 6 & G, etc.!

Simple fonts that look good in a small size: Verdana, Tahoma, Calibri, Segoe UI

I’m not sure if they would look well. I can import truetype fonts, but all the letters have to be the same size and should be proportional in height and width. Else it will get very ugly because numbers and letters get left aligned and not centered. And if they are not proportional then they will be either too small or cut off on the top or bottom.
I will search for some good ones and also don’t forget that they have to be free fonts...not sure about the microsoft ones.

This font will be nerdy enough but still pretty readable, also we can pretend the nerdseq runs DOS!
https://int10h.org/blog/2018/05/flexi-ib...type-font/
It's Attribution-ShareAlike so in order to use it in the nerdseq it would have to be referenced and the converted font would have to be made available independently in addition to being included in the firmware.

Another nice to have thing would be user changeable font by SD card, IDK if this is something that warrants the effort but I would definitely play around with different fonts if it were available. It wouldn't need to be loading a .ttf or .otf file but could be a simple bitmap or a bitmap font format.
Personally I quite like to use https://larsenwork.com/monoid/ for coding for instance.
