Firmware V3.0
#1
Heart
This is it! The latest MAJOR Firmware for the NerdSEQ and this time also a massive update for the Video Expander (VEX).
Welcome V3.0!

As usual loads of new features, fixes and if you got a Video Expander then you get also a Video Synthesizer for free! If you don't then now is the time to get your hands on a VEX ;-)

Important information before you update!!!

- make a backup of your SD Card and especially of your projects (can't stop repeating that!!)
- Firmware update FAQ for some infos. https://forum.xor.eu/showthread.php?tid=4
- No worries, in case of any issues you can always go back to your earlier version (but can't load projects that have been saved with V3.0 without any side effects, The VEX firmware 3.0 will work well also with older NerdSEQ versions)!

Please follow this update order (important for the VEX!!!):
1. Copy the NerdSEQ V3.0 firmware (unpacked, 'nerdseq.hex') into the firmware folder of the NerdSEQ SD Card.
2. (optional) Copy the video expander V3.0 firmware (unpacked, 'vex_3_0.vex') into the firmware folder of the NerdSEQ SD Card.
3. (optional) Unpack the 'shaders.zip' file onto the NerdSEQ SD Card root (Unpacking will create a folder on the NerdSEQ root called 'shaders'.) The shaders in that folder are a collection of fragment shaders taken from different (open) sources. Most of the shaders run as they are (all files that start with SHxx) but are not enhanced yet to be used with all the NerdSEQ modulations. All shaders that got proper names (eg PLASMA.FRAG) are optimized and extended with NerdSEQ modulations.
4. Update the NerdSEQ firmware.
5. (optional) With the new NerdSEQ firmware V3.0 running, update the Video Expander firmware. There is no need to disconnect any other expander. Go to Setup->Expander FW Update. Choose the firmware file: VEX_3_0.VEX and press OK. Choose Update Now and it will start the update. Once finished it will show the detected new video expander firmware.
The Video Expander must be enabled (in clone mode) and fully working already to be able to do the update. That means also that both cables, the 12 pin (midi) and the 14 pin (NSA) ribbon cables must be connected with the NerdSEQ (and be sure you don't break the SD Card if the 12 pin cable has not been installed yet. The usual hotplug rules apply)!
6. Enjoy!

Sad
Hi!  I followed the instructions for the video expander update.  My video expander in in NAS position 4.  When I start the upgrade, I get an "update_error" message.  Please advise.

Was it fully running before? Do you got both cables connected, the 12 and the 14 pin and is the USB port working properly? It is essential that the 12 pin cable is fine else it won’t work indeed.
