Ratchet Randomly or Just Normally
#1
Sorry for the terrible title.  I had this figured out about two major firmwares ago…but things have changed and I’ve been on hiatus!

I want a sound to trigger.  Let’s say high hat.  It triggers every time it loops around.  Then, at random intervals, it ratchets.

Here’s what I’ve sorted so far.

I can get it to trigger. I can get it to ratchet.  I can get it to randomly ratchet.  I CAN’T get them to an either or.

Any help?  Thanks y’all!

With randomly ratchet, do you mean ratchet at random, or with random ratchet values?

Ah, great question. To clarify, I mean to ratchet at random.

A simple double ratchet or no ratchet can be simply created by using the random ratchet commands and then with a low range percentage.
Another way might be the ratchet in the fx column with an added probability. And another possibility is using the mappings but that gives next to flexibility also complexity ;-)

I had a partial success today. First, here is what I was able to accomplish:

I didn’t put a trigger in the trigger column, then, I put a “TRG1 0F8” in FX1.  (0F8 = Rnd Trg/Rtc Rng:0 0-100%)

This mostly worked.  The issue then is that occasionally there would be no trigger at all.  I need it to at least trigger once.

So, I think I’m on the right track?  Thanks again.

I would leave the triggers in the trig column then. Wouldn't that solve it?

That was what I tried originally, but what happens is that it only ever plays the single gate, and the random ratchet never happens.
