Kill command on samples
#1
Does the Kill effect work with samples?

If I put a sample on a line, and then put Kill 0000 next to it, it seems to play the sample at full length. Am I missing something?

I've tried various values and never got a sample to end early unless I use note off. I've also tried my own samples and the RAW ones that came with Nerdseq.

As far as I know, this is still on the 2do list. It's not implemented yet. The only current workaround is use volume 00 to cut the sample on another step. Can't stop the sound midstep right now.

Ok thanks for the clarification !

I'm actually running in to an issue right now where I've got probability that a sample will play and I'm setting the previous sample to 00 volume and the first sample I want cut is going up in volume again. So, I just made a tiny little "silence.wav" to hopefully change that!

I'm doing something kinda weird with a snare sample pitched WAAAAAAY down and having an automator fluctuate the pitch wildly ... and I want it to stop before an offbeat snare (same sample, normal pitch) plays, but if the probability for the offbeat snare doesn't cause it to play, the weird sounding warbly snare goes back up in volume. I'm going to have the "silence" sample play just before that offbeat snare. That should totally cut the sample.

Just mentioning this because the "workaround" I described above apparently has some limitations if you're doing something not totally normal! Big Grin

EDIT: Disregard all of of that ... I forgot there was "note off" ... with either shift+delete or the Note "below" C-0 it looks like "[ ]" ... I blame this on being ill for days straight ... THIS IS THE ACTUAL ANSWER I SHOULD HAVE SAID EARLIER ...
