In the "Input / Record Setup" even though there is nothing placed in the jacks if choose any of the live input (e.g. to "transpose all") it does straight away transpose the sequence. Is that normal?

Yep. Transpose works bi-directional but the inputs are only 0-10 Volt.

5 Volt means no transpose there and the higher and lower voltages transpose up and down.
PLEASE use the search function if something have been asked or discussed before.
