*SOLVED* never in sync

Hi all:

I just upgraded the firmware to the latest on the site.  I have been using the NerdSeq since the first batch that was public.  I am having a chronic problem with getting the NS to sync with my other gear.  I am sending it a 16th clock and I have it set to slave-16 in the settings.  It actually does sync, but it is always exactly 1 step behind the main clock.  Also sending a reset does nothing.

This has been bothering me since I got the unit, and it continues even with the newest firmware.  I am very troubled by this.

All my other gear syncs correctly to my master clock and resets correctly:
-Trigger Riot
-Varigate4
-Stilson Hammer MK2
-Rene
-Z8000
-this list could go on and on, my system is large.

Why is the NerdSeq not resetting?  Why is it always one step behind?  Hasn't anyone else had this problem?

Hey tuj,
that sounds strange to me. Normally it runs stable in Mod. Slave mode.
Please try without the Reset in the first place.

Also, do you know how the timing relations with the reset are? Does the reset come before or after the clock (Reset is 0V-5V-0V or the other way around?)? I could think of a slightly delayed reset which could be a problem.

Do the reset/clock input work fine (you can test them in the calibration screen, connect the output reset to the input reset and output clock to the input clock, then go from the menu up/down and down up, all must show OK then or ERR if one port doesn't work well)

The clock behaviour hasn't change since the 1.0 versions and i didn't get any real bugreports except for that it can be more enhanced, which it will be in one of the next versions. All other could be sorted out.

I have tried without the reset signal. It still takes one clock pulse to start advancing, leaving it 1 step behind everything else.

I can change my reset timing, but right now my first clock and my reset trig are simultaneous. Reset is conventional 5v rising trigger, so is clock.

I will try the calibration screen check.

It's likely it expects a different polarity? Haven't had this issue myself personally, although I used it with a 24PPQN clock.

What do you use for your clock?

The reset should reset the sequencer to step 00 on each reset trigger. Easy to notice when resetting for example after 16 steps (when using 64 step patterns).

Rising trigger for clock or reset sounds good to me.

I have used multiple things for the clock and reset, nothing seems to work. Right now I am using the ES-4 and ES8-GX to send 16th-note clock and a reset. I have verified with my o-scope that the clock and reset are correct, +5v, something like 5ms in duration, rising. I have tried using the reset into an EG with a decay (to simulate a longer PW reset signal) and that doesn't work either. I have also sent the signals chained from the Trigger Riot outputs (it has pass-thru clock and reset). I've sent clock from clock divider modules. Nothing puts it into sync.

Most ideal, the rising edge for the reset signal should come before the rising edge of the first clock.
Do you have pictures of the o-scope (without connected reset).

Without a connected reset, it will begin from the point of pressing start, while making the first step with the first received clock signal.

I understand that it is annoying. If it is not a hardware problem, then i am sure we can find your issue and fix what is needed.
