I know it is possible to select the midi record channel lanes in the settings, but it would be very nice if there was a way to do live midi recording lane switching while in the heat of the moment.

It is there. Instead of the track you choose track select.

No, I mean to say Note 1, 2, 3, 4, lanes. I would like to be able to switch those live on the fly without messing with the track settings.

Oh I see, no there is nothing like this and I wouldn’t know a good way to select this without using shortcuts or something like this.
What you could do is using 2 tracks both listening to a different midi channel but output the same. There you select different ‘lane’ settings and now you can simply switch with your midi keyboard between them.

Would a possible work around be to code a Select Note Lane feature where the cursor dictates which lane is recording...similar to the midi chan select record option ?
Another idea is that there could be a setting or command that would print the first lane and the listen on the second and so on. I would prefer the first concept though. This brings me to the next question that has been on my mind (well besides understanding groove and clock timing which I am figuring out from the manual and trial and error). I feel that the NerdSeq really needs more customizability with the SegaGame pad and the Keyboard. For example it would be so nice to have Macro Templates for the Sega in which the whole controller is devoted to a type of effects (A for Slide, B for -speed, C + Speed)...or a way to midimap these features and then be able to switch the template for the next effect. I am on the fence about getting the keyboard expander (lowest price I can find is $250), but if there was a way to allow the user to make custom macros for things like effects it would be great. I basically want to be a able to click a button (or two) and input slides and retrigs on the fly while the sequencer is recording. I am sure that the new mapping page in 1.8 covers some of this and will continue to do so as you finish it. Just some thoughts on how to improve an already great tool. |
