MIDI CC mapping does not respond to step change

I made this mapping:

MIDICC TR 102 > CV CV6

And added an automation track to Studio One. Now it worked fine with a ramp - I could see the values go up to the final value on the mapping screen.

But, when I make the CC a step the change does not occur. The odd thing is, when I pause the transport, the mapping does get the expected value.

Using the Studio One MIDI monitor I do see the CC sent at play start (0 value) and then once at the final value (first screenshot) At pause, the CC is sent a couple more times and the Nerdseq picks that up (highlighted in the second picture).

It seems like it should be taking the CC value on the first message, but what I know about the MIDI spec is negligible.

I am not aware of an issue regarded to CC input with steps and I can’t think of a reason why it should make any difference with a ramp for example. They are many users who use this function including me and so far no issues with it.

Can you monitor somehow what really comes out of the midi port? Maybe you can loopback and monitor that?
Also in this view you filter out much data but that is also important to see the whole picture.
