Hi!
I’ve read up on the various track division options available and have a question:
There’s the track setup division option, which is per track, of course.
There’s the SCLK, which takes effect when the next ’breakpoint’ is reached.
If I wanted to jam on a pattern, and then switch manually to another pattern on the same track, and have the next pattern have another clock division, could this be done? Basically, it’s the same issue as with sending program changes: you need a setting to either have the new division take effect immediately, or the option to send the division change only if you’ve selected the next pattern.
Or is there some way to reach this with current features? The gist of all this is: I think a way to achieve per-pattern clock divisions would be immensely powerful.

Just as with all clock divisions. You don't want that, because it will bring your pattern directly out of sync with the mainclock or other patterns. The main reason to allow clock changes after a pattern end is to stay in sync ( at least with even clock dividers/multipliers).
However, i was thinking to add like a 'change clock now' function for those who can't resist :-)

Hehe, I'm most definitely an in-sync type of person when it comes to sequencers
My thinking here is something like this:
1
--
01
02
--
03
--
...
Let's say that on track 1, I have patterns 01 and 02 as one island, playing at 1:1 clock division, and after jamming on them for a bit, I want to manually change to the next island, consisting of pattern 03, which I'd like to play at *2 rate (perfectly in sync with everything). Currently, this can't be accomplished, because I'd have to use the 'SCLK' command to change the division. But of course, if my SCLK command is within pattern 02, after the playhead crosses that FX value, patterns 01 and 02 will be playing at *2, too.
I think that this could be remedied by either:
-Making a setting for a per-pattern clock division (not sure how feasible this is – are there any other per-pattern settings?)
-Inserting a SCLK FX value on the first step of pattern 03, in the second island. If this were to activate immediately, I should have an always in-sync track, where patterns 01 and 02 are playing at 1:1 rate, and as soon as I change to pattern 03, it's at *2 rate? Or am I just overlooking something?
So, in sync, but able to jam on one pattern island for a while, and then switch over to the next pattern, running at a different rate. The current SCLK setting of activating it when a 'break point' is reached works perfectly, if you want to play each pattern only once, but if you'd like to remain on a pattern for a while before moving over to the next, the SCLK will change clock divisions prematurely.

It is a really a strange behavior to set the clock of a track at the end of a pattern.
It is unusable like this ??!!

You can set it everywhere in the pattern, but it will be active when the new pattern begins.

Yes I understand but it is really a strange behavior, we want to set the speed of the current pattern we have just launched with a fx at the beginning or maybe with a setting per pattern if it possible when it begins not the next one, like on every sequencer.
I don't see how we can use it like it. It is unusable.

I assume you know that you can change the clock also through the Nerd button for the next pattern. If you talk about jamming, then don't use the SCLK commands but 'jam' the clocks in.

When the current pattern has just been launched, then it has been launched with the current clock settings. After that it reads the sclk command from the FX column...at a point when a part of the clock divider/multiplier calculations have already been done.
There are per pattern settings and i will include that also as a 'per pattern' function, but i am already looking forward about priorities so would the pattern clock be leading or the current clock or the set clock for the next one....
I'm sorry that it is unusable for you, many people use it happily including me, mostly changing the clock on the fly while live playing. And for a full arrangement i think the SCLK commands are also doing well.
Just a question, which other sequencer you are talking about (not to mention that the NerdSEQ is not every other sequencer and no intentions for that).
I know the most sequencers doesn't allow clock per track base at all.

I’m not who you’re replying to, but just to submit my preference: I would expect that, if there were to be any pattern-level control of clock divider/multiplier at all, I would expect it to apply to the pattern in which it was specified, from its start to its end.
I would consider changes to divider/multiplier literally during the pattern, changes to the divider/multiplier of whatever pattern plays next, etc. all to be interesting bonus features.
The above all said, the NerdSEQ is super-cool at present, and its existing sequenced and live features are definitely appreciated.

Please keep NerdSEQ NerdSEQ , but since it was asked: Eloquencer, Hermod (though due to its quite different internals,) Usta, Vector (at which point I stopped looking for more.) On the “can’t or I couldn’t find how” list before I stopped looking: Metron, Per|former.
That said, these sequencers may only do so at a certain “level” we wouldn’t consider equivalent here, since I expect NerdSEQ users might want to see both track AND pattern dividers/multipliers combined in any number of ways at the same time, or with one strictly overriding the other, whereas the sequencers above almost surely only support one “level” at all.

If you add pattern setting for clock, it will be great.
Other Modular sequencer are Eloquencer, Hermod, Varigate4+,
Other external sequencer are electron Machine like Digitakt, Octatrack, toraiz SQUID,
They have a clock division setting saved with the track, phrase, (pattern in nerdseq)
Thanks
But no problem, no worry, I like NerdSeq, but I will just not use clock division like this for the moment.
