LFO clock divided / mult
#1
Hi,

I can’t get the LFO to either multiply or divide by the clock. It’s either on the clock or with the other settings it just stops.

I have read the manual on this but not gotten anywhere.

Also watched all of the tutorials by the Italian guy on YouTube.

What is the plan exactly?
You can use the step or tick multiply/dividers as input for the LFO.
One complete LFO iteration has 22050 Samples and so you would need 22050 steps for one LFO iteration if no division/multiplication is involved.
You can calculate the rest, like for example if you want one LFO iteration being 128 steps long or so.
The Speed decides the divider/multiplicator.
Like Multiply by 16 will iterate 16 samples further and so on....

I tried for a long time, in practice I want to be able to set the LFO 2x clock, 2/, 8/ clock etc.

There doesn’t appear to be a way to do this. Without apparent calculations?

The way the clock divide works on the nerd menu is easy to understand and fast to use. I think it would be best for the LFOs to work the same when the setting is based on the clock.

So a LFO should run like twice the speed as the clock? It is not possible to have like multiple iterations synced to the clock. You would have to use the free running ones then and match it with your mainclock.
The Multiplier/divider settings work in a different way and so the steps/ticks just trigger a new sample in the LFO.

Multipliers wouldn't make sense anyway quite fast because you would run out of the LFO range very fast and then it's an normal oscillator.

Sorry but I really don’t understand!

If you take Pamela’s workout for example, it’s very easy to choose your LFO speed based on clock division/ multiplication.

I don’t see why the Nerdseq has to be any harder than that.

I understand that it’s a tracker and there are some things people need to learn but this really seems way too complicated and not very user friendly in my opinion.

Exactly, its mainly a sequencer!!! And a LFO doesn't have anything to do with a tracker or with a sequencer. It is a side function and it is absolutely usable for many things. It will never provide all those fancy LFO functions that module X/Y has. Still, it is more flexible than many others and you can run multiple of these and you can modulate these to multiple destinations.

A tap/clock speed function with dividers/multipliers is not planned currently.

You can always add it to the feature requests and i consider everything thats on there.

It’s a sequencer with LFO modulation output per track which anyone would expect to be able to select to sync to clock multiplication or division simply.

I’m not suggesting anything fancy. Just selection of clock multiplication / division exactly how it is implemented in the Nerd Menu for clock division / multiplication.

I’ll add to the requests.

It is implemented since like 1,5 years like it is and many people are very happy with it. No one requested this so far.

That may be the case.

But at the risk of offending someone, a lot of users aren’t exactly making coherent music with it, which I do want to do.

And those who are, are probably using other modules for simple LFO shapes because the Nerdseq doesn’t provide simple time division selection.

I think i leave it here. Got to go on with the development.
