Ignore next Pattern in an Island Command
#1
Islands are very useful due to the quick 'automation' of jumping from a pattern and back. But I have found that sometimes I wish to take advantage of playing two patterns together in an island but to only have it play once and not continuously repeat.

So if I had an island such as

01
02

I want it the sequencer to play 01 and then 02 and just stay repeating around 02 - not go back to 01. So an FX command would be useful to tell the sequencer to ignore the next island.

You could do this already by using the STSP effect

If pattern 02 was on for example track 3 at row 5, you could put STSP305 in the FX slot of that pattern (doesn't matter which row of the pattern) and it would repeat

I think the only limitation is if you moved your patterns to a different row of the sequencer, you'd have to change the FX to reflect the new position of the pattern

You could add a jump command in that pattern or repeat 255 times which might be enough for your workflow?

The JUMP command works fine for this but I did find that 255 times wasn't enough for my workflow. The STSP didn't work - despite it retriggering the desired pattern, it would then go on to launch the next sequence in the island which is what I am trying to avoid.

So an FX command would be useful to tell the sequencer to ignore the next island please.

If the Jump command works fine, why should I add an extra FX?
