Drummatrix euclidian first row
#1
Hello there,
If this thread has not its place in this subforum please feel free to move it where it belongs Smile.

I recently updated my nerdseq to the 2.01 firmware and I'm super duper pleased with the mapping interface and the ability to jam with the euclidian drummatrix and a midi controller.
But I was wondering if it were possible to set a default "first" row (or a first row shifting function per track if that make sense) for each drummatrix track in euclidian mode?

At the moment if I create a pattern and fill a track using the euclidian function, the first step is always on row 0.
but as an example: lets say I have 16steps pattern with a kick drum on track 1, Hats on track 2 and snare on track 3.

I want my default first rows to be:
- row 0 for kick,
- row 2 for the hats,
- row 4 for the snare.

by doing this I can either "mute" the track by removing all the euclidian steps, very easily come back to a classic beat with off-beat hats and a snare on 2nd and 4th beat, but still being able to use all the power of the euclidian filling.

I tried to find an answer or a workaround by reading the manual but maybe I missed something or it is simply not possible (at the moment?).

Hope you people have better clues,
Cheers !

Hey,

if you use the manual euclidean functions (launchpad, cursor buttons) then the startpoint is the row where you are with the cursor.
With the other external input types (like CV inputs, Midi/I2C knobs/faders) I choosed to make it step 0 since you could manipulate these also without being in the screen and then it is not obvious what is being filled in I think. Maybe the shift options can help you in a way...or a good idea on how to set it up from another step but without tons of settings somewhere....I don't think it is a project setting!

That's what I thought but too bad, thanks anyway Smile
And is there a mute function to the individual drummatrix track ? if not does it sounds more reasonable than the previous messy question ?

Cheers !

"Mute per Matrix Column is not implemented yet."

I might just not have come across it - is there a matrix destination that could be addressed over i2c for euclidian offset?

Hello, just coming back to the original request: it is really great musically if you are able to "rotate" the start of the euclidean pattern away from the first row. Otherwise, all patterns always have a note in first row if it is created not manually.

My feature request would be to add a mapping command to rotate euclidean pattern start offset by up to F steps for eacht drummatrix column separately; or just a command to dynamically offset +/- XX rows up/down a drummatrix or a regular pattern column via mapping command up to F rows. This is for variation and polyrhythm purposes.

Just managed to control the euclidean pattern with F8R and that was my first search how to rotate the columns individually.
Would love to have a rule per column to set starting point if external input is used.
