sync issue / IO-expander
#1
hello, i recognize a strange issue when using the nerdseq and the IO-expander. i use a pamela clock to trigger the nersdseq (this works without any problems) and from the midi out of the io-expander i go into my octatrack. this sometimes works and sometimes not (around 50% / 50%).

when it doesn't work, the octatrack just plays between 1 and four steps and stops.

what could cause this? anyone has experiences with such behaviour? and how to fix? i'd love to use the pamela as the clock, so i can change tempo from my modular, which would not work if i use the midi in to the nerdseq comming from the octatrack.

Hey i think your issue is that there is no start and stop with modular clock. There is only clock and reset.
Midi instead needs a dedicated start and stop signal.
So it is possible that the octatrack stops after a while when no clocks are being received. But the NerdSEQ only sends a new start when this is initiated by the user.

I think you might get more luck if you use sync24 clock in. I guess Pamela supports it. With this there is also dedicated clock and the NerdSEQ also sends then the needed start/stop signals when initiated from Pamelas.

thank you. it seem to work better when i set clock in to mod.slave24 and clock out to din-sync24
at least i did over ten start stop cycles with no issue so far. guess it is better to use higher resolutions Smile

Clock in should be DINsync and clock out midi still. I think that would be the best.

hm, when i use DINsync for clock in, the nerdseq doesn't start at all. as said, i am using a gate out from the pamela into the nerdseq clock in. not the midi in.

You got to set the clock in to DIN sync. And the Pamela then as well to DIN sync

Oh OK, i see.
Then you got to stop and start the NerdSEQ manually and feed the clocks after that. 24ppq prefered of course.
It doesn't really matter if you use Dinsync or Midi out then.
