*SOLVED* never in sync
#11
ok so the clock tests all passed, all four said 'ok' with cable from out->in on reset and clock.

BTW, in that configuration, when I accidentally scrolled down to "test sample 7", it locked up.

Hi Tuj, i tried with :
Metropolis
Eloquencer
It works like a charm
I tried with Trigger riot
It works but it is tricky because of how the trigger riot is working.

I have tried clocking with:

ES-4+ES-8GX
Trigger Riot
RCD
SCM
QCD

The ES-4 clocking (both sync and reset) works with:
Rene
Trigger Riot
Stilson Hammer MK2
Varigate4
ER101
RCD
SCM
QCD
A151
Grids
A155
DLD
Echophon
Z-DSP clocked delays

I'm baffled. All my other modules work correctly. The NerdSeq is always 1 step behind and reset signal does nothing.

You can try this:
put the nerd seq in slave mod
put a clock in the clock in
and a manual gate in the reset ( ls1 or something )
let's play the nerseq, and look at the pattern screen. Does it reset when you touch your manual gate ?

Patate: I will try that, but like I said before, I ran the reset into a decay envelope to increase the duration of the reset pulse. Didn't make any difference, the reset doesn't do anything. I'll try a manual gate when I get back home and see what happens.

But also without the reset connected it should work well.
Did you try to go down and up again with the cursor on the calibration, checking if the clock/reset doesn't show ERR?
Also, how do you mean that it was locked up? That never happened to me and i calibrated quite some NerdSEQ.

OK some people on Reddit are telling me that the reset needs an INVERTED TRIG? Is this true?

I have a lot of modules, and none of them use an inverted trig for anything.

No thats not true.

The reset input uses a standard trigger.

Please make this easy test. Set to clock MOD Slave
Connect the clock input to a external clock source.
Connect output trigger 1 with the reset input.
Make a pattern on track 1 and set the trigger on position 8 with value 40.

Start the external clock and start the pattern.

The sequencer should run now and only do a 8 step sequence and reset then. If it keeps running to 64 steps then you reset input is bad.

Sorry to not getting back earlier for some additional tests.

OK, I will try your test when I get home today.  Thank you for the prompt response.  I have no idea why some people spout off garbage.

OK, here's what I did:
new pattern, track 1
on step 8 I put a 40 trigger
press start
verify that trigger 1 out is producing a 5v spike on step 8.
plug trigger 1 out to reset in
sequence should restart at step 8; instead reset is ignored and continues to play whole pattern.

EDIT: I didn't see your part about external clock...
when i set to external clock, 16 step and route the trigger 1 to reset in, it DOES reset on step 8.

So reset is working apparently.
