Simply play a sample when Sample 7 and 8 are expanded

When a MT16 and CV16 are assigned to the Sample 7 and 8 tracks, is it still possible to simply just play wave files (in a loop) from the two Sample 7 and 8 outputs (no notes, sequencing, FX or whatsoever)?

I actually would like to use them as noise sources by loading/selecting white/pink/blue/red wave files and play them in a loop (or maybe generate more 'colours' like the noise waveform).

The wave loading is only accessible from the tracks which are assigned to the Sample outs, right?

According to the answer of (a bit similar question of me) at https://forum.xor.eu/showthread.php?tid=1510 , you probably can not. Does this mean you totally lose control of output 7 and 8 when you occupy expanders on track 7 and 8?

It is my understanding that Audio patterns are Track 7 and Track 8 only. When you change the track type for both Track 7 and Track 8 from Audio to something else there is no way to have Audio patterns. Since currently Audio patterns are the only way to play WAV files there then is no way.

I don't know whether adding something like a simple sample player function is possible due to memory constraints - there already is very little spare memory. Not sure the memory reserved for samples could be repurposed. You may try a feature request.

Ok, no problem. Thanks for you answer. I was hoping I oversaw something. If the audio tracks are the only way to utilize the sample outs, than thats it. The other outs (1-6) can be used when occupied with a MT16 or CV16 via FX, so I hoped the same a bit for out 7 and 8 via other FX tracks.

I only would like to have noise (oscillator or sample) on the sample outs. It's probably a one off request, too small change it will be added...
